North Kessock is the first village encountered on the Black Isle when driving from Inverness north over the Kessock Bridge. Because it is bypassed by the main road to the north the A9 the village remains quiet. Its counterpart, South Kessock, is an area of Inverness across the Beauly Firth the stretch of water that separates them. North Kessock and South Kessock were connected by the Kessock Ferry until 1982 when the Kessock Bridge was completed and opened
